The Manitoba-Minnesota Transmission Line Project (MMTP) Crown Land Offset Measures Plan (CLOMP) was developed to address the permanent loss of Crown lands available for traditional use by Indigenous people resulting from MMTP. The CLOMP is intended to offset the permanent loss of Crown lands by adding to the amount of Provincial Crown land available for traditional use through purchasing suitable private land and converting it to Crown land.
With our recent purchase of the property in the Rural Municipality of Piney, Manitoba Hydro has satisfied the CLOMP land requirement of 96.4 hectares (about 238.2 acres), with the total amount of land purchased being 315.58 acres, distributed across two parcels.
Moving forward, we are looking for feedback on how to allocate the remaining funds allocated for the CLOMP, with approximately $500,000 remaining in the Trust. We would like your feedback to help us determine how we may allocate the remaining funds.
